Care instructions

We recommend wearing the jeans for as long as possible without washing them. The advantage here is that the jeans retain their characteristic dark blue color for a long time and the abrasion and wear areas become more clearly visible. This creates the so-called patina, also known as “fade”, which gives the jeans their individual look.

However, if you don't want to wear your jeans completely untreated before wearing them for the first time, you should put them in lukewarm or cold water (approx. up to 30 degrees) for about 10-20 minutes. The pants should be completely covered with water. Then simply hang the jeans up wet and let them dry. Drying takes a little longer, but you should avoid using a tumble dryer or placing the jeans on a warm heater.

The first machine wash (preferably after approx. 6 months) should be done at a maximum of 40 degrees, without washing powder and “without” a spin cycle to avoid washing streaks. To do this, please pull the jeans inside out!

A recommendation from us...

is not to wash the jeans and instead dry clean them. The advantage here is that the jeans do not shrink at all and the “patina” or “fading” comes into its own after a certain amount of time. In between and after a pub crawl, you can hang your jeans on the balcony to air out overnight. Above all, the jeans should be protected from laundering roommates during the so-called “breaking in” entry. There is almost nothing worse than coming home and your new jeans project has simply been washed along with the other dirty laundry at 60 degrees and a full spin cycle. At least, they say, tears were shed.

There are certainly many different opinions and views on the subject of jeans care. Everyone has to have their own experience, we can only give tips and suggestions. Denim is a natural product and every denim company has its own secrets, from choosing cotton to dyeing and weaving. However, the general rule is to wear the jeans for as long and as often as possible without washing them and for at least 6 months!

All jeans in our range are made from “selvedge denim”, which means the fabrics were produced on old looms. This is characterized by the external selvedge, which is characterized by different colors and widths.

"Shrink to fit"

The jeans that are designated as "shrink to fit" denim are completely untreated, which means that the pants shrink about 10% the first time they come into contact with water, i.e. about one size in the waistband and about 7-10 cm in length.
As an example: a size 33x36 becomes size 32x34 after the first contact with water.
On the subject of "shrink to fit", we strongly recommend placing the jeans in lukewarm water for about 10-20 minutes before wearing them for the first time, as described above, so that they can shrink. It can then be worn for an optimal period of 6 months. The other option is to buy the "shrink to fit" jeans to fit and not wash them at all. If you decide to do this, you have the option of chemical dry cleaning as described above.

Pre-Shrunk or pre-shrunk

In this process, the finished denim material is treated with heat before cutting, which means that the jeans have little or no shrinkage. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer whether or how much jeans that have been treated with this process will shrink. To do this, please simply note the marginal information for the desired item.

Now have fun “breaking in” and if people turn around at you and turn up their noses, maybe the day has come when you can finally wash your jeans.

Indigo treated fabrics

Indigo-dyed fabrics are relatively delicate. To protect them and to avoid discoloration and transfer to other items of clothing when worn, washed and dried, we have put together some important tips.

Indigo-dyed clothing

  • may rub off on other, lighter fabrics when worn
  • Any moisture (e.g. from rain or sweating) can lead to extreme discoloration
  • Wash separately, inside out and only with neutral detergent
  • Avoid hand washing and tumble drying
  • Hang inside out to dry in a place protected from light
  • If the moist material comes into contact with metal, color changes may occur due to oxidation
  • Store as cool and dry as possible
  • Do not expose the fabric to direct sunlight or bright or fluorescent light, otherwise color changes may occur
  • Discoloration can also occur upon contact with chemicals, acids, soaps, etc
