The "2 Monkeys Union Army Cavalry Jacket" is a lightweight cotton piqué jacket modeled after the jackets worn by the Union Army Cavalry during the United States Civil War of 1861–1865. Originally made of wool, the jacket was a military uniform, but was occasionally manufactured by private individuals during a time when the system of mass production was not yet fully established. It appears that specifications varied from state to state and county to county, so there were numerous variants.
