The iconic Engineer Boot by THE REAL McCOY'S is made from rare "buttock" horse leather, which is obtained from the rear part of the leather, the transition area between the lumbar spine and the tail vertebrae. It is dyed black using a process called "pigment finishing". The brown core comes through wear in the stressed areas and gives the boot a particularly beautiful patina. Founded in Detroit in 1933, Buco was a leading manufacturer of motorcycle parts and also produced durable leather goods such as jackets and boots.
