M-43 Service Shoe Camel

Buzz Rickson's M-43 Service Shoe is a faithful replica of an iconic 1943 U.S. Army shoe whose thoughtful design combines rugged durability, functional details and timeless aesthetics.

Compared to its predecessor, the M-42, the M-43 has some significant improvements: The rough suede with the grain side facing inwards not only offers greater comfort, but also makes it easier to put on. A wax treatment protects the leather from moisture and gives it additional durability.

The toe cap has been omitted to make the fit more flexible and increase freedom of movement. A robust full-grain leather sole provides more stability and protection against water.

Its timeless character and versatility have made the M-43 a classic - and thanks to Steve McQueen, who combined it with the legendary A-2 flight jacket in The Great Escape, a true style icon.
