In 1957, the US Air Force MA-1 flight jacket was introduced as a direct successor to the modified B-15D and is today considered a masterpiece of flight jackets. Only a few companies were responsible for the production of the first models, including Albert Turner & Co., known for the precise zigzag stitching that keeps the wool lining securely in place. This detail is a distinctive feature of the early MA-1 models and is also reflected in this replication.
The jacket stays true to the original and is made from heavy, water and wind resistant nylon twill, with a wool fiber lining for extra comfort. In addition to the excellent workmanship, it impresses with its authentic silhouette, which retains the classic charm of the original MA-1.
Part of the Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson collection, it comes not in the classic "Sage Green", but in deep black - inspired by a fictional black MA-1 that the science fiction author designed for his protagonist in Pattern Recognition . On this basis, Buzz Rickson's brought the never-before-seen jacket to life and thus laid the foundation for the unique "Type Black" militaria collaboration.
